What to Expect
The Kittanning congregation was established in 1977. We strive to show the love of Christ to everyone. We are far from perfect and welcome anyone who walks through the door. We are a Bible-focused congregation, emphasizing scriptural text. The Bible lays out a blueprint of how a worship service should be; we do our best to follow God’s commands in how we worship Him.

Many people are hesitant about attending the services of an unfamiliar church. We want to alleviate any anxiety by explaining how our worship service is conducted.
First, you are our honored guest. There are no "assigned seats," so please sit wherever you like! We are happy to have you here and want to get to know each of our visitors better.

Our worship is not based on emotion but is a period of reverent worship modeled after the first-century church described in the Book of Acts and other New Testament books. You will not be called upon or embarrassed in any way. Our worship is conducted in an orderly manner.

You will notice that our song service is acapella. We do not use musical instruments as we sing hymns of praise, psalms, and spiritual songs. As described in Ephesians 5:19, we sing from our hearts because God desires sincere praise and worship from our hearts (Colossians 3:16).

One of the men of our congregation will lead the opening prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-5). The Lord's Supper will be observed. You are welcome to partake if you feel comfortable. During this time, we eat the bread and drink the fruit of the vine in memory of the great sacrifice of our Lord on the cross of Calvary (Matthew 26:26-29). We do this on the first day of every week (Acts 20:7).

At the end of the Lord's Supper, we also "give" as we are able. The collection is taken on the first day of every week (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). It is a free-will offering based on what each person has purposed in their heart. As our guest, you are under no obligation to contribute, but you may do so if you desire.

After another song and a Bible reading, our minister will share a sermon. At the close of the sermon, an invitation will be given to anyone who needs to respond. Our worship is designed to edify and is patterned after the early church from over two thousand years ago. Following the sermon, one of our elders will make announcements, followed by a closing song and prayer.

We hope and trust that you will be strengthened and built up as God wants us to be, and we invite you to come back often!
